Shipping Hazardous Materials

The following materials cannot be shipped without consulting EHS:

  • Dry Ice
  • Infectious and Biological Substances
  • Genetically Modified Organisms or Microorganisms
  • Hazardous Chemicals
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Compressed Gas Cylinders (full or empty)
  • Items Containing Lithium Batteries

If you would like to ship any of these items, please allow a minimum of two-week notice and complete the Dangerous Goods Shipment Request Form.

Dry ice shipments are allowed if you are currently certified to do so through EHS, and the package does not contain any other items listed above.  Certification is valid for 2 years. To become certified, take the "shipping packages with dry ice" training in the UCLC.

Shipping internationally?  Contact the Office of Research to avoid any export control delays.
