Lab Safety Training is required for anyone working in a lab on campus. You can fulfill lab safety training requirements by taking online courses through the UC Learning Center (UCLC). Your supervisor or principal investigator (PI) can tell you which courses to complete.
UC Learning Center Account
If you already have a UCLC account, you can skip this step. Active employees always have an account, but students who are not employees usually need to request an account. To find out if you have an account, click here and attempt to sign in.
If you do not have a UCLC account, complete the form at the bottom of this page. Please be aware that your account can take up to 5 days to process, so please plan accordingly. For more information, view the UCLC Troubleshooting Tips.
If you do not have a UCMNetID (or UC Merced email) contact ehs@ucmerced.edu.
Finding and Launching Online Courses
- Sign in to the UC Learning Center.
- Type the training name and hit Enter.
- Find your course in the search results and click the course name.
- Click the Start button to launch the course
Viewing Courses Assigned to You
You can view your Training Analysis by clicking the “Required Training” tile from the UCLC home screen. The Training Analysis will show your assigned training, when it is due, your status, and typically a Start button to launch online courses. If a course does not have a Start button, click the course name to view fulfillment options.
Note: There may be times when courses you need to take are not yet assigned to you. In these cases, you can find and launch training as described above. Your supervisor or PI can tell you which courses you need to take to work in their department or laboratory.
